The Infrastructure and Projects Authority (IPA) published the National Infrastructure and Construction Pipeline which sets out nearly £650bn ($900bn) worth of investment over the next decade.
The 12 biggest contract opportunities have a value of more than £500MM ($695MM), and have been revealed as part of the government’s updated National Infrastructure and Construction Pipeline. 10 of the 12 contracts worth more than £500MM, are within the transport sector. Of those 10 transport contracts, 5 relate to upcoming work on the strategic road network, while the other 5 relate to railway work; 2 of which are for jobs working on High Speed 2 (HS2). The biggest 4 contracts by value all relate to roads jobs. The 2 biggest contract opportunities are both worth £4bn ($5.6bn) each and are for the Lower Thames Crossing Tunnels and Approaches Contract, and a National Highways ‘Scheme Delivery Framework’. The main works contract for the Stonehenge Tunnel, £2bn ($2.8bn), the Lower Thames Crossing Northern Link roads contract £2bn ($2.8bn), and a HS2 Rail Systems contract for phase 1 and 2a £1bn ($1.4bn).
